Spring Cleaning Your Smartphone
It's that time of year again - spring has just about made its return! With this new season comes warmer air and usually one longggg spring cleaning list. I don't mind though, I will happily trade the snow for a cleaner house - even if that means I'm up to my elbows in Windex and bags of old clothes.
Luckily, I'm not really here to tell you how to clean your house but you can click here if you are looking for a great, comprehensive spring cleaning checklist.
This spring cleaning blog is about your smartphone. Just like we go through each room in our house and purge all the items we no longer need or want, we should do the same with our phones. So let's begin!
You might be one of those rare individuals that regularly deletes the apps you no longer use...but you're probably more like me, and hang onto apps for months and month until you finally look at it and wonder why you didn't delete it a long time ago. The first step in spring cleaning your phone is deleting apps you don't need or use. This will free up space for things that are actually useful.
After you've done that, it's time to organize them into folders for easy access. I try to keep my home screen to only two pages of apps, so I'm not always scrolling left or ride to find what I need. The types of folders you create are up to you. You can see how I've done mine here:
Your next step is going to be identifying which content is taking up the most storage. If you have an iPhone, that process looks like this:
Next, you'll see this screen below. You can tell at a glance which content is taking up the most space (mine is obviously my messages!) then below that there are some quick recommendations on how to help reduce the amount of storage they're taking up. Right below that, you'll see a list of apps organized by how much space they're occupying. Obviously, you won't want to delete everything, but this here is a good place to start!
3) Germs & Bacteria
You didn't think this was just about what's inside your phone, did you?! We have to keep the outside clean, too! To rid your screen of fingerprints and grime, we recommend our PhoneSoap Shine. You can't forget about the bacteria, though because that could potentially make you sick. For that, we have the PhoneSoap 3 smartphone sanitizer.
If you've read this blog, go comment on our most recent Instagram post 'Can't wait to spring clean my phone!' - I'll pick one of you at random to receive a Shine AND a PhoneSoap 3 by the end of today!
